How does the automatic attendance-taking process work?

Every tracked meeting invite comes with a unique URL. Invited students are required to sign in with their Google Classroom account (one-tap login is supported) on the landing page.

The attendance will be taken automatically with no additional action required. Then they will be redirected to the meeting immediately.
