Quick Start for Vault Owners
This guide shows you how to enable Security and Encryption for Coda, which allows users to create vaults to store confidential data (secrets) safely. No downloads or installations are needed on your device.
Tip
While you can build a page from scratch using the pack, the easiest and fastest way to get started with Security and Encryption for Coda is to use the Security and Encryption for Coda – Secret Template and Security and Encryption for Coda – Vault Template.
Generate API token
First, we must generate an API token that will allow us to connect the Security and Encryption for Coda pack to your account. To do so, click your profile photo and select Account settings.
Scroll down the page to the API section and select Generate API token.
Give the API token a name and then click Generate API token > Copy token.
Add the Security and Encryption for Coda pack
Create a doc.
At the top right corner of your doc, select Insert > Packs.
Search for Security and Encryption for Coda and select it. Then, click Add to doc for free.
A pop-up window will appear. Enter your API token.
You will need to select the following settings to complete the setup.
Set who can view the data from the account. Select You and anyone this doc is shared with.
Set who can take action in the account. Our recommendation is to select Only You.
Now, let's add a template to your doc. Return to the top right corner of your doc and click Insert > Templates.
Let's search for the Security and Encryption for Coda – Vault Template. Select it and a pop-up will appear. Click Use Template.
The template's menu will now appear on the left sidebar of the page. You can do the same for the Security and Encryption for Coda – Secret Template.
Congratulations! You are now ready to create secrets in your vault. Learn more in our guides for Vault Owners.
