Getting started with Birdview for Confluence

Birdview is currently a preview release. As query is limited to 100, it may not work well in large Confluence instances. We’d love to get your feedback on how to improve your experience with Confluence spaces.

Birdview for Confluence will help you effortlessly visualize, plan, and manage Confluence space structures.

How to install Birdview for Confluence

  1. Log into your Confluence instance.

  2. Click Apps on the main menu and select Find new apps from the dropdown menu.

  3. Search for “Birdview for Confluence (Preview)” and click on the app tile.

  4. Click Get app to start installing your app.

That’s it, you’re set!

Viewing space structures

  1. At the top navigation menu, click Apps > Birdview for Confluence (Preview).

  2. Click Allow access to allow the app to access Atlassian products on your behalf. You will be redirected to the app’s main page.

  3. Click on the hamburger menu ().

  4. At the search bar, enter the Confluence space name that you want to view.

  5. You will now be able to view the mind map of your space.

Organizing space structures

Birdview for Confluence allows you to rearrange pages, move and place your content, and structure your space by dragging and dropping elements around the page.

  1. Click on the item to move and drag it to a new location.

Managing pages with built-in actions

You can perform the following actions without leaving Birdview for Confluence:

Creating a child page

  1. Select the page you’d like to add a child page to on the mind map.

  2. Click on the ellipses () > Create child page.

  3. Type the name of the page and select Create.

Adding a label

  1. Select the page you’d like to edit on the mind map.

  2. Click on the ellipses () > Edit page.

  3. Type the name of the label in the field. Then, select Create (name of the label). You can add more labels by typing the name of the label in the Add label field.

  4. Once done, click Update.

Add new labels by clicking +Add label on the description of the page you’ve selected.

Adding an attachment to a page

  1. Select the page you’d like to edit on the mind map.

  2. Then, click +Add attachment.

  3. You will be redirected to a page where you can add attachments. You can also leave a comment.

Moving a page

  1. Select the page you want to move on the mind map.

  2. Click on the ellipses () > Move page.

  3. At the search bar, locate the parent page you’d like to move the page to.

  4. Once you have selected the page, click Move.

Deleting a page

  1. Select the page you want to delete on the mind map.

  2. Click on the ellipses () > Delete page.

  3. Click Delete to confirm your deletion.
